What works is already known
Continuity of care, professional interpreters, bicultural workers and group pregnancy care improve safety and respect. They should be standard, not special programs.
Multicultural Centre for Respectful Maternity Care
Culturally safe maternity care is a human right, for every race, every culture, every faith.
We are a consumer-led peak body, founded and governed by migrant parents. We work for equitable, culturally safe and respectful maternity care for migrant, refugee and culturally diverse women and families in Australia.

We work collaboratively across Australia to build a coalition for equity. By centering the voices of migrant, refugee and culturally diverse families, we are transforming maternity systems into spaces of genuine safety and respect.

We have created a plain-English guide to help you navigate your options and find safety. Whether you seek to change your care provider, access a professional interpreter, or report an incident of disrespectful care, we provide the steps to be heard.
We will listen to your story. Sharing your experience helps us advocate for systemic change across Australia's maternity services. Please note that while we offer guidance, we are not a crisis service and cannot provide clinical advice.
